Need a reason to celebrate today? I'll give you two reasons. Oct. 4 is National Taco Day and National Vodka Day.
Try to contain your excitement.
The news begs a logical question: Shouldn't National Taco Day coincide with National Tequila Day? Well, National Tequila Day is apparently July 24.
Sorry, folks...don't hate the messenger.
Never miss a local story.
Anyway, National Taco Day has its own website, which informs us Americans ate 4.5 billion tacos in 2012. I can probably account for 683,000 of those. Kidding.
As far as the numbers go, I'd love to see a soft shell/hard shell breakdown. I'm a hard shell kind of girl, with the exception of situations when I'm eating tacos in a professional atmosphere and must consider the mess factor.
Here's some National Taco Day trivia: What's Taco Bell's top-selling taco?
Correct answer: the crunchy taco, according to recent statistics from the fast-food chain.
If you're 21 or older, feel free to indulge in today's National Vodka Day excitement as well. While writing this article, I learned about Oddka, which offers vodka flavors like "Wasabi" and "Fresh Cut Grass." So, um, there's that.
Finally, if you want to combine the two holidays, check out this dinner menu that includes taco recipes, as well as recipes for vodka-inspired cocktails.
As always, celebrate responsibly. That applies to vodka consumption AND taco consumption.
