Police are investigating whether a 77-year-old woman was neglected by caretakers at her Wellborn Drive home after she was rushed to the hospital for injuries Thursday, according to a Columbus Police report.
An EMS unit arrived at the 2100 block of Wellborn Drive at about 11:55 p.m. after receiving reports of an injury. When they went inside, the woman had very low blood pressure and needed to be transported immediately to St. Francis Hospital.
A man of unknown relation attempted to stop EMS from transporting the elderly woman, saying he would take her himself. However, medics on scene said the woman needed to receive fluids and had to be transported to avoid further health issues.
While being examined, medics found bruises on the woman's arms. The woman's daughter told police that her brother recently learned his mother had fallen down four times, none of which were followed by a doctor's appointment. The man whose relation is unknown was allegedly in charge of the woman's care.
