The Home Depot has apologized for a tweet it sent out through its corporate account, which has more than 160,000 followers, earlier this week. Accompanying a photo of two African-American drummers and a man in a gorilla mask, the company asked, "Which drummer is not like the others?" See a screenshot here.
The tweet, which was apparently a cross-promotion with ESPN's "College GameDay," was quickly deleted. According to the AP , Home Depot said Friday that it has fired both the person and outside agency responsible for the message.
"We have zero tolerance for anything so stupid and offensive," said Stephen Holmes, a spokesman for the Atlanta-based company.
The company also apologized to organizations such as the NAACP — with a tweet . Click on its feed now. It's apologies all the way down.
