More than 200 families will find their tables slightly more bountiful due to a free turkey giveaway, hosted by Steve Harvey and the Columbus President’s Motorcylce Club.
Radio and TV personality Steve Harvey gives away 100 turkeys annually to each of the 80 cities in which his show broadcasts, including Columbus, where he airs on Magic 103.1.
“It’s a lot of turkeys that he gives away, and to large cities, small cities, any city that his show airs,” Clear Channel Radio host Edgar Champagne said. “We appreciate everyone listening to the radio, and Steve says he’s been blessed and he just wants to give back. There’s no charge. You just get in line, and if you’re in line you get one of the first 100 turkeys.”
During the past few years, the Columbus President’s Motorcycle Club has teamed up with The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation, and added 150 turkeys to the count meaning 250 needy families will have a free main course for Thanksgiving.
The giveaway was held on a “first-come, first-served” basis at the Liberty Theater until 11:30 a.m. By 10 a.m., an estimated 130 turkeys had already been handed out by about a dozen volunteers from the President’s Motorcycle Club.
