Columbus State University Police are on the lookout for one suspect after a CSU student was robbed Tuesday morning at the Courtyard II Apartments parking lot, according to a press release.
The victim told police that a black man wearing khakis and a gray jacket, accompanied by a woman wearing a stocking cap, black jacket and dark sweat pants, approached him in the 3258 Gentian Boulevard complex. A gunshot was fired into the air during the confrontation.
The woman, Kathrina Marie Campbell, was apprehended on scene. But the other suspect — who police believe to be 21-year-old Jabryson Monterio Burton of 4407 Rosemont Dr — allegedly fled in a red Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Campbell was charged with felony conspiracy to commit armed robbery. She has an unrelated improper left turn and contempt of court charge.
A third suspect was also arrested shortly after the incident. Xavier Hamilton, who Columbus State Police Chief Rus Drew said has an extensive history with Burton. Hamilton allegedly also fired a shot during the incident, which led to his arrest.
"We feel confident at this point that this was not a random act," Drew said. "This was a drug transaction that was taking place between non students in the parking lot. We're still trying to find out how they got through the gates into the complex. We don't know if that's going to be a girlfriend or a stolen access card."
No injuries were reported.
