After allegedly pouring soda on his wife's head in December, Brian Hawkins is reportedly still trying to make contact — this time from the Muscogee County Jail, according to a Columbus Police report.
Hawkins' wife called police Monday afternoon to report that the 30-year-old man had been harassing her over the phone. The alleged phone calls come in the middle of a divorce proceeding, which reportedly sparked the events leading to Hawkins' arrest in December.
Hawkins faced false imprisonment, simple assault and simple battery charges during on Dec. 20, 2013, after he allegedly held his wife down, threatened to burn her with cigarettes and poured a can of soda on her head in their 28th Street apartment.
The victim told police there had been other instances of domestic violence. She said during one incident, Hawkins allegedly threw her into the back of his vehicle, put on child locks and refused to allow her to leave.
Hawkins was charged with aggravated stalking for the alleged phone calls. He remains in Muscogee County Jail.
Muscogee County Sheriff's Office Maj. Randy Robertson said numbers dialed by inmates are not monitored unless the inmate has had phone privileges restricted. The jail can later verify whether inmates have made calls to people that have restraining orders against them.
