While an officer was searching for items stolen from a Miller Premium Beverage employee's car, police found a 17-year-old they believe to be responsible for several car break-ins, according to a Columbus Police report.
The officer responded to the 8400 block of Veterans Parkway at about 5 a.m., Thursday. Before the officers arrival, other police woke the victim to inform him that his car had been broken into. He reported several items missing, including a laptop and a computer bag.
The officer began searching the surrounding area for information, and found the victim's laptop and bag in the bushes. He then spotted Marcus Jackson, who was in possession of several objects from other cars in the area.
Jackson attempted to flee, but was quickly detained, according to the report. He was charged with entering an automobile, obstruction, possession of tools during the commission of a crime and possession of marijuana. The amount of marijuana found was not disclosed.
The teen was transported to Muscogee County Jail.
