A Columbus woman who rented a hotel room on Victory Drive is accused of hindering the arrest of a wanted man early Saturday, police said.
Quashandra C. Riley, 20, was taken into custody just after midnight after police went to the Colony Inn hotel searching for Christopher Gilliam. Riley was charged with felony hindering the apprehension of a criminal and held in the Muscogee County Jail for an 8 a.m. Monday hearing in Recorder’s Court.
Police said Gilliam was wanted on several outstanding warrants when they went to the hotel room rented by Riley. The woman told police she was aware of the warrants on Riley and purchased the room for both of them.
The woman told police she didn’t know Gilliam’s whereabouts.
More than 18 months ago in August 2012, Riley and Gilliam were arrested after police stopped a 1984 Chevy Caprice driven by Riley on Torch Hill Road. Police found $201 worth of marijuana in the vehicle and a stolen .40-caliber pistol in Riley’s purse.
