Columbus police stopped a car for a traffic violation and ended up charging the driver for illegal drugs.
According to the Muscogee County Jail, Curtis R. Dewberry, 56, of Porchester Court in Columbus faces 13 charges, including possession, manufacture and distribution of a controlled substance, possession and use of drug related items, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
According to a police report, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Wallace Drive.
The officer reported seeing a car failing to maintain a lane of travel. The officer discovered that the license plate did not belong to the car being followed.

According to the report, when the car slowed down to 10 miles per hour, the officer got out of his vehicle, ran to the one being followed, and gave loud verbal commands for the driver to stop.
The officer said he observed a used glass smoking device on the car seat.
Dewberry was then placed in custody.
