The suspect in Dior Cheney's 2013 homicide has been extradited from California to the Muscogee County Jail, police say.
Reginald Jamal Jackson was brought from Riverside and awaits a Recorder's Court hearing at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Jackson was arrested on outstanding murder and aggravated assault warrants for shooting Cheney and Travis Porter on Oct. 29, 2013. Jackson also is accused of being a convicted felon with a gun and using a firearm to commit a crime.
Cheney fatally was shot at Head Street, where Travis Dashawn Porter was wounded. The shots were fired at 8:13 p.m. into a silver 2010 Ford Focus Cheney drove. Cheney, 23, died of a gunshot wound to the head. Police found Porter, 32, at Midtown Medical Center 20 minutes after the shooting.
According to the Department of Corrections, Jackson only was out of prison for three months before he allegedly shot and killed Cheney. He served nearly three years for attempted armed robbery and violating the dangerous drugs act. He was released July 23, 2013, and allegedly shot Cheney and Porter on Oct. 29.
