A tractor trailer containing between 3,500 and 7,000 gallons of gasoline overturned in the front yard of a Phenix City residence on SummervilleRoad near the intersection of 30th Street.
The accident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m., and the Phenix City Fire Department and Russell County Emergency Management Agency responded.
A hole the size of a garden hose was discovered spilling gasoline into the yard and was contained. Two smaller 4,500 gallon gasoline trucks were on the scene emptying out the contents of the larger truck's tank.
The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries. No one else was injured during the accident.
Summerville Road will remain closed until authorities have the site cleaned up and deemed safe.
