Columbus State University hosted a grand opening celebration Friday for The Market on Broadway, located at the corner of the 10th Street and Broadway in Columbus. CSU officials, students and Aramark representatives were on hand for the event, which featured a ribbon cutting, a sweepstakes, and the chance to spin the wheel for prizes, including samples of items sold in the store.
The Market on Broadway opened on the Fourth of July and carries a variety of food, beverages and household items, including several flavors of coffee and Jamba juice, fresh produce and breakfast sandwiches.
Troy Anderson, food service director for Aramark at CSU, said they wanted to wait until students returned for the fall semester to host the grand opening celebration.
He said the store is not just for students, has been designed to serve the general public and has partnered with different organizations in downtown Columbus for events.
"We're definitely trying to be part of the community in addition to a part of CSU," he said.
