A man accused in the Aug. 24 death of a LaGrange resident was nabbed in Columbus Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Members of the LaGrange Police Department arrested Devonte Cortez Thorpe, 20, without incident at a home in the 3000 block of Calhoun Street, police said in a release. He was transported to LaGrange and held in the Troup County Jail.
LaGrange authorities were assisted by the U.S. Marshal's Office and the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office in the 12:30 p.m. arrest.
Thorpe is charged with murder and auto theft in connection with the death of Dejerius Hardnett, 20, of Callaway Avenue in LaGrange.
Nearly a week ago, police were called about a victim later identified as Hardnett who had been assaulted on Dawn Drive near Chip's Way. Hardnett was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta where he was later pronounced dead.
