Forrest Road will be closed at the rail crossing near the Bull Creek Bridge next Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 10-11, so Norfolk Southern Railroad can replace the steel rail at the crossing, according to a city release.
The rail work is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to take two days, but rail officials say they will reopen the road as soon as the work is completed.
Detour signs will be put in place and barricades will be erected. The detour route for eastbound traffic is Reese Road to Lamore Street to Lamore Road and back to Forrest. The westbound detour will be Lamore Road to Lamore Street to Reese Road and back to Forrest.
Changeable message signs will also be installed several days in advance of the closure to alert drivers, and will remain in place until the completion of the crossing work.
