A dispute has left a LaGrange woman dead and a man charged with murder, police said Saturday.
Tarvanisha Boyd, 25, died after she was treated for a gunshot wound to the chest at West Georgia Medical Center.
Demario Goodrum, 28, faces one count each of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Goodrum was in a vehicle speeding from the location of the shooting as police responded to investigate the incident.
A red Chevy Malibu was traveling north on Forrest Avenue at a high rate of speed. The car went through an intersection and struck a building before the suspect attempted to flee on foot.
Officers took Goodrum into custody at the location. He was treated at the hospital and transported later to the Troup County Jail.
An investigation into the shooting revealed that the suspect and the victim argued at a Boyd’s Forrest Avenue home before the shooting. The suspect ran from the home and sped away in the vehicle.
