A vacant house on 25th Street between Hamilton Road and Veterans Parkway in Columbus went up in flames overnight, firefighters reported.
The building at 506 25th St. was a total loss, though it already was slated for demolition, said Fire Marshal Ricky Shores.
He said firefighters found flames already burning through the roof when they arrived around 2:30 a.m. Rainy weather did not tamp the blaze, he said.
Investigators so far have found no connection between this fire and four of suspicious origin reported Tuesday near 13th Street and 10th Avenue, he said.
Never miss a local story.
The 25th Street area is frequented by homeless people, and some may have gone into the vacant house to get out of the rain, then built a fire inside to keep warm before the flames burned out of control, Shores said.
