Columbus High's Cason Greathouse scattered six hits in a complete-game 1-0 victory over Northside on Saturday at Randy Jordan Field.
This game was a make-up of Friday's rained out game.
Greathouse gave up two hits in an inning only once. The Patriots put together back-to-back one-out singles in the top of the fourth. Zack Williams and Bryce Delevie both singled to put runners on first and second.
But Greathouse got the next two batters to quell the threat.
Never miss a local story.
The game's only run came in the bottom of the first inning.
Dylan Baker reached when he was hit by a Jalen Latta pitch. Al Jones laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Baker to second base.
Russell Forthofer followed with a double to right field that scored Baker for a 1-0 lead.
With the win, Columbus (12-3 in Region 1-AAAAA) built its lead to two full games over Harris County, which saw its scheduled doubleheader against Carver rained out. The Tigers are 9-4.
Hardaway is third at 9-5, followed by LaGrange at 8-6 and Northside at 8-8.
Northside hosts Shaw on Monday in another region game, then the Patriots host Columbus on Tuesday in a makeup game from Thursday's rainout.
