Columbus pedestrian killed on Buena Vista Road

A Columbus pedestrian died after being struck by vehicle in the 5400 block of Buena Vista Road around 9 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

James Blue, 55, was pronounced dead of blunt-force trauma at 9:49 p.m. at Columbus Midtown Medical Center, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan. His body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy.

It was the second pedestrain fatality in the Chattahoochee Valley over the weekend. A 36-year-old Phenix City woman died Sunday morning after being being struck by a pickup truck. According to Russell County Deputy Coroner Billy Dixon, Danielle Shipp was walking across U.S. 431 when she was hit around 1:45 a.m.

He said the incident happened near Knowles Road.
