Police in LaGrange, Ga. are searching for a suspect in what officials say was a kidnapping that took place Monday which involved a pursuit that went into Chambers County, Ala.
The suspect is 26-year-old David Blake Thaxton of LaGrange.
According to a police report, it was at 8:02 a.m. that Troup County 911 received a call about a a female being forced into a black pickup truck at the intersection of Vernon Road at Forrest Avenue in LaGrange.
Troup County adviced the caller that they it had received two other calls saying the woman had jumped from the truck and was trying to run away while screaming for help. She was then grabbed by the male and forced back into the truck.
The truck was followed by a caller who said the vehicle was traveling along Vernon Road. The caller said the vehicle was traveling towards Alabama on Roanoke Road.
A detective located the at passed Whitaker and Fling Roads. The detective attempted to stop the truck and then a marked patrol car arrived in the area.
The pursuit continued into Alabama where the suspect attempted to make a U-turn back into Georgia.
After getting stuck, the suspect ran from the vehicle. The woman was found inside with minor bruises and lacerations.
She told police that the suspect, the father of her child, abducted her from the Red Roof Inn on LaFayette Parkway and threatened her.
Law enforcement officers from Troup County in Georgia and Chambers County in Alabama searched for about three and one-half hours.
The suspect was seen on Chambers County Road 268 but he escaped on foot. Another search, lasting four hours, took place with no arrest.
