A second-degree child cruelty charge filed against a 37-year-old Columbus man previously accused of punching a 11-year-old girl in the face was dismissed on Oct. 7.
The dismissal came after Christian Hardy pleaded not guilty to the charge in Columbus Recorder’s Court on Sept. 28. Judge Mary Buckner bound the case to Superior Court during the preliminary hearing.
Police Cpl. Kyle Tuggle told the court on Sept. 28 that the child’s mother entered the Boxwood area home and found Hardy punching the girl in the face. Authorities said the reported incident left her with a small red mark.
A document from Superior Court stated that after further review, it was determined that there was “insufficient evidence to proceed.”
