Battalion Chief Bryan Watson of Columbus Fire & Emergency Services said a search for a missing person will continue using boats with sonar.
Watson said a call was received around 5:55 p.m. Monday that a person had gone into the Chattahoochee River and had not resurfaced.
It is believed the person went in near the 13th Street Bridge. Witnesses said they saw the person enter the water.
That area was checked and cleared by divers.
For safety reasons the divers will not be used anymore tonight.
“We won’t use the divers at night,” Watson said.
