Police have arrested a third possible gang member in connection with the theft of five vehicles valued at $150,000 from Enterprise Rent-A-Car on South Lumpkin Road.
Emanul Banks, 17, of Columbus was taken into custody at 12:30 a.m. Thursday after a chase from Zelmos, 1246 Veterans Parkway. He was charged with five counts of theft by taking auto, one count of burglary and being a participant in a gang criminal activity and held in the Muscogee County Jail. A Recorder’s Court hearing is set for 9 a.m. Monday.
Police were called to the convenience store to check on several men loitering behind the business. At the scene, police said one ran toward the Krystal on Fifth Avenue but lost him. The officer continued the search and found two suspects matching the description of fleeing suspects behind the business.
After the men were approached by police, one was identified as Banks who has several outstanding warrants for his arrest. The other teen wasn’t charged.

Banks is the third of five suspects arrested in connection with the June 23 theft of vehicles from 1807 S. Lumpkin Road. He joins a 16-year-old juvenile and 19-year-old Quotavis Javon King who was identified as a “Zo’Hannon” gang member during a June 30 court hearing, as suspects in the vehicles theft.
Police said five suspects entered the business sometime between 6:29 p.m. June 22 and 7:01 a.m. June 23 before taking multiple sets of keys and left with five 2017 rentals vehicles identified as a Mitsubishi Mirage, Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Equinox and two Dodge Journeys.
The stolen vehicles valued at $150,000 have been recovered. Police are still searching for the other two suspects.
