A Lanett, Ala., woman died Wednesday after a two-vehicle collision at North Park Drive and Andrews Road near Opelika, authorities said.
April Billingsley, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:30 p.m. crash, said Lee County Coroner Bill Harris. Her body will be taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery, Ala., for a post mortem examination.
Opelika police and fire department personnel were called to the location on a two-vehicle collision just east of Opelika. At the scene, fire, rescue and emergency medical services personnel with East Alabama Medical Center found Billingsley with no signs of life and pinned inside the wreckage.
Traveling on North Park Drive, Billingsley apparently entered the intersection when her vehicle was struck by a northbound vehicle on Andrews Road. The driver of the vehicle that struck Billingsley was transported to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus for treatment. No report was available on the man’s injuries.
