A Columbus police officer was stuck by a vehicle on Hickory Avenue late Friday while he was conducting an interview in the roadway, police said.
Cpl. Patrick Knight was struck about 8:20 p.m. in the 3900 block of Hickory Avenue. The officer sustained only minor injuries and wasn’t treated.
Michael Brannon , 52, was taken into custody and charged with one count of driver exercise due care and driving while license suspended. He is held in the Muscogee County Jail for a 2 p.m. Tuesday hearing in Recorder’s Court.
Police said Brannon was driving on Hickory Avenue while Knight was conducting a field interview. Brannon is accused of striking the officer as his vehicle passed Knight.
