Two Columbus women were jailed Friday after a 3-year-old girl was found wandering near the Chattahoochee Riverwalk, police said.
Elauntra Shank, 21, was taken into custody about 7:45 a.m. at a 21st Street apartment and Heather Powell, 27, was taken into custody at 9:20 a.m. at the same location. Shank was charged with reckless conduct, multiple unrelated traffic charges and held in the Muscogee County Jail . Powell who was described by police as the mother of the child was charged with reckless conduct for a Recorder’s Court hearing at for a 9 a.m. Thursday.
In a report, police said Shank failed to supervise the girl who was found walking unattended near the Riverwalk. Powell is accused of failing to supervise her child who was found unattended.
