A 12-year-old boy was shot in the chest Tuesday afternoon at Elizabeth Canty Homes, according to Columbus police.
The victim was rushed to Piedmont Columbus Regional-Midtown Campus, formerly known as Midtown Medical Center. He is in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon, said Jessica Roberts, the senior public relations coordinator at the hospital.
Authorities were called to Piedmont around 6 p.m. Tuesday to check on a shooting victim. Upon arrival, they discovered a 12-year-old boy who had been shot at Elizabeth Canty Homes at 2000 Cusseta Road.
He is suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and chin. No additional details are available at this time.
