The body of a man was discovered Tuesday morning in the parking lot of The Medical Center after police responded to reports of a suicide.
Police and the Muscogee County Coroner’s office refused to release the identity of the 38-year-old Columbus man found in a rental car around 11 a.m. Medical Center public relations officials likewise declined comment.
The body, which was found in a rental car with Birmingham, Ala., tags, was pulled from the light gray, four-door sedan around 11:20 a.m. It was removed from the scene immediately. The car was towed around 11:35 a.m.
Police were overheard saying they had found a shell casing in or around the car.
Lt. Charles Kennedy said officers checked the deceased’s house. Nothing unusual was found.
