A Columbus man accused of having hundreds of pictures of child pornography was given a $10,000 bond on Tuesday.
Michael A. Smithart, 48, faces one count of sexual exploitation of children. He appeared in Columbus Recorder’s Court Tuesday, waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty.
According to police, Smithart allegedly downloaded some 700 pictures between March 1-4. Some 350 of those had previously been determined to be child pornography.
Police arrested Smithart at 3 p.m. Monday at his Victory Drive home after executing a search warrant.
