There are a few things you never say to police officers, your plans to kill people being chief among them.
Stevie Carter, 42, may not have gotten that memo, if Columbus police reports are any indication.
According to reports, Carter chose to reveal his alleged murderous intentions while at a park early Tuesday. However, Carter faces only a charge of being in a park after hours.
Here's what police say happened: Two officers were patrolling Rigdon Park, 1660 Howe Ave., about 12:25 a.m. when they spotted Carter standing near the parking lot. Carter told the officers he was at the park to “cool off.”
Carter then said he'd just found out his wife was seeing another man, and that he “could just kill them both,” reports state.
If police didn't hear it the first time, they definitely got the idea when Carter repeated it. Police say Carter told officers that “kill them both” part twice.
Turns out that Carter and his wife have been separated for five months and that he doesn't have her phone number or home address, reports state.
So after all this, the lesson seems to be that you should stay away from parks after hours.
