With help from the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office, authorities in Troup County charged two Atlanta men late Tuesday with trafficking methamphetamine.
The suspects were identified as Geovani Liborio Bautista and Martin Liborio Bautista. Both were arrested about 10:40 p.m. at the Race Trac convenience store on Lafayette Parkway. They are accused of trafficking in nearly 2 pounds of crystal meth and held without bond in the Troup County Jail.
Authorities said information from Muscogee County led investigators with the Special Investigations Unit, Troup County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to conduct a joint drug operation with LaGrange Police Department. Agents were told a large quantity of meth would be delivered to a location in the city limits of LaGrange.
A black vehicle was observed at 1517 Lafayette Parkway when agents detained the occupants and searched the vehicle based on information. The meth was found inside the vehicle along with a large sum of cash.
The LaGrange Police Department praised the efforts of Muscogee County Sheriff's Office for information leading to the arrests.
