A Columbus man found dead Thursday at 1226 21st St. appears to have died of natural causes, but an autopsy is planned, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said.
The man's name is not being released because there are questions about his identity, Bryan said. Police are assisting by checking finger prints to help identify the man.
Bryan said an autopsy is planned for Saturday at the crime lab in Atlanta.
After talking with neighbors, Bryan said it appears the death is natural. "The guy had been dead on the floor a couple of days," the coroner said. "People were just stepping over him to watch TV and stuff."

At 1 p.m. Thursday, police and the coroner were on the scene at the home in a neighborhood behind the Midtown Medical Center. There were seven marked Columbus police cars on the scene.
Maj. Gene Hillhouse said police are investigating all possibilities. The man appears to be in his 50s, with no apparent wounds, he said.
There was some bruising on his back, Bryan said.
Police were seen putting one man in a patrol car Thursday afternoon.
