A Columbus Police Department officer was arrested and charged with battery after allegedly attacking a T.G.I. Friday's employee in the restaurant's dining room early Thursday, according to a report.
Brandy Griffin, the officer, was off duty when the incident occurred, according Lt. Julius Ross.
Her name was not initially given on the report.
Officers responded to a report of a dispute at about 12:30 a.m., where they were advised that Griffin allegedly pushed and punched the victim, a 20-year-old woman, in the dining area of the restaurant at 3116 Adams Farm Dr.
The victim further suffered a laceration to the nose.
Griffin and the victim were not strangers, according to the report.
The case remains under investigation. Griffin has been placed on administrative leave with pay.
