A teenager today in court confronted the man who repeatedly assaulted her sexually from when she was 4 or 5 years until he impregnated her at age 13 – an emotionally wrenching scene played out as Larrie Scott pleaded guilty to multiple counts of aggravated child molestation involving the teen and a younger girl.
“You took away my childhood,” said the victim, now 15. “You took away almost everything from me.”
Upon hearing all the testimony, Superior Court Judge William Rumer gave Scott two consecutive life sentences for offenses totaling 11 separate counts, and ordered him to submit to all restrictions required of a registered sex offender should he be paroled.
Assistant District Attorney Wesley Lambertus described a particularly egregious case in which the girl likely was assaulted at least 20 times, some incidents involving oral and anal sodomy. He said Scott, now 32, not only impregnated the older victim, but gave the girl two years younger chlamydia, a sexually transmitted disease.
The assaults first came to light in August 2011 when Scott was jailed for failing to show up for court on traffic violations from the previous May. While he was incarcerated, the older girl’s aunt visited her niece and saw the child appeared to be pregnant. She gave the girl an over-the-counter pregnancy test, and called police when it came back positive.
Detectives learned the extent of the girl’s abuse while interviewing her, Lambertus said, but Scott’s abuse of the younger girl, then 11, was not apparent until January 2012, when a physician diagnosed her chlamydia, the prosecutor said.
In the meantime, the older victim gave birth to a baby girl, he said.
On Nov. 16, 2011, investigators acquired samples to submit for DNA testing, the results of which on Jan. 13, 2012, showed a 99.9999 percent chance the baby was Scott’s, Lambertus said. According to the crime lab, that’s as close to 100 percent as the test can get, he said.
The baby was the only good that came of her ordeal, the girl said today in court.
“After all this pain, I still got something good out of it: I got a little girl,” she said.
“I’m going to be a good parent to this little girl,” she added later as she told Scott he would never see her daughter.
