Police discovered a substantial amount of ecstasy Monday when a 43-year-old man failed to switch lanes near a traffic stop, according to court testimony.
Antonio Robinson, 43, faced intent to distribute ecstasy, possession of hydrocodone, possession of marijuana and numerous traffic charges during a Wednesday morning Recorder's Court hearing.
Cpl. Jason Swails told the court he was assisting with a traffic stop on Interstate 185 between Buena Vista Road and Macon Road when he noticed Robinson's vehicle pass close by. He chased the silver Chevrolet Impala until the vehicle stopped close to Macon Road.
Robinson told Swails he thought police were only conducting a routine traffic stop, and was unaware he was required to move over a lane. A strong marijuana odor was emanating from the vehicle while Swails spoke with Robinson, he told the court.
Swails found a small amount of marijuana in Robinson's pocket during a search. A prescription bottle containing six ecstasy pills and several hydrocodone pills was also located in the center console.
When Swails asked Robinson about the ecstasy pills, he said he shares them with "young girls," Swails told the court. Swails did give further details about this claim.
Judge Michael Cielinski set Robinson's bond at $18,600.
