Witnesses say Rony Perez and a 33-year-old man were arguing about money Sunday before Perez stabbed him in the buttocks, according to court testimony.
Perez, 38, is being held on a $25,000 bond for charges of aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.
During a Tuesday Recorder's Court hearing, an officer said the victim fingered Perez as responsible for the stabbing when police arrived to a 3212 Plateau Drive mobile home park. Perez attempted to bolt, but was apprehended. Covered in blood and carrying a large knife, he was taken into custody.
Witnesses told police the men were seen arguing some time before the stabbing occurred, the officer said.
Perez' attorney questioned whether the responding officers were able to understand the victim and suspect, since Perez required a translator during the hearing. The officer said the victim spoke English when he accused Perez of the crime.
The victim was transported to Midtown Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.
