LaGrange law enforcement negotiated with an armed 36-year-old man for more than five hours after he barricaded himself inside a Waffle House bathroom Tuesday, according to a Troup County Sheriff's Department release.
At about 3:10 a.m., management informed deputies that an armed, suspicious man had been in the 4560 Hamilton Road's bathroom for nearly two hours. Deputies reasoned with Woodstock's William Madison Cahall through the door, but he refused to come out or give up his weapon.
LaGrange Police Department Emergency Response Unit members and negotiators assisted deputies with the hours-long negotiation, which ended at about 8:42 a.m.
Cahall was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony obstruction of law enforcement and criminal trespass. Authorities anticipate more charges will be filed. He remains in Troup County Jail.
