Lee and Russell County Sheriff's deputies uncovered stolen guns and pounds of marijuana after locating a suspected burglary stash house in Phenix City Thursday evening, officials say.
Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor said his deputies were called to the 1321 Ingersoll Drive residence after Lee County investigators connected the house to a vehicle spotted at a rash of burglaries along the county line near Smiths Station.
"Lee County has had several burglaries in the past weeks along that line. We've had several in that area, too," Taylor said. "They had gotten a lead on a vehicle, and when they ran the tag they went to (the Ingersoll Drive) address."
Unspecified items in plain sight allowed deputies to quickly secure and execute a search warrant. Shortly after their arrival at about 5 p.m., law enforcement arrested 23-year-old Bryan Thomas, 30-year-old Damien Glover and 24-year-old Reginald King. The three were also charged with trafficking marijuana after deputies located six pounds inside the house.
Taylor said six guns, two of which were stolen, were also recovered during the search.
The group faces no charges in Lee County. However, more charges may be filed if investigators place where the stolen guns were taken from.
"I'm sure some folks are going to have some more charges dealing with the fact that the guns are stolen," Taylor said.
More suspects may also be arrested at a later time, he said.
