Police found more than $400 worth of drugs Tuesday after stopping a vehicle with a broken tag light on Veterans Parkway, according to court testimony.
Ernest Hodges, 40, Darnell Allen, 23, and Corey White, 20, four charges during a Wednesday Recorder's Court hearing: three sale of controlled substances counts and one drug related objects charge. White was additionally charged with broken tag lights.
Hodges and Allen's charges were later dropped when White took ownership of the drugs.
An officer pulled White over on Veterans Parkway after noticing the vehicle he was driving had a tag light out at about 1 a.m. When he approached the vehicle, he noticed the strong scent of marijuana.
Police began a search of the vehicle after detaining White and his passengers. Inside, they found 2.8 grams of cocaine inside a pill bottle, along with several Xanax pills. Officers also found a bag with 14 grams of marijuana and a digital scale in the backseat, along with more than $300 in cash.
Though White claimed ownership of the drugs at the scene, officers charged Hodges and Allen because of their proximity to the drugs in the backseat.
White reemphasized during Wednesday's hearing that Allen and Hodges were not aware of any drugs in the car.
Judge Michael Cielinski set White's bond at $26,150.
