A pregnant 23rd Street woman was battered by her live-in boyfriend early Wednesday after a verbal altercation turned physical, according to a Columbus police report.
Rashard Williams, 28, was arrested and charged with simple battery (family violence) and misdemeanor possession, according to multiple reports.
Officers were dispatched to the victim's home, on the 1400 block of 23rd Street, at about 1:35 a.m. in reference to a domestic dispute.
There the victim informed police that Williams had come home drunk at about 1:20 a.m., kicking in the front door, according to the report.
The victim told police that Williams threw a drink on here while she was lying in bed and then "pushed and grabbed (the victim) with both hands around the neck," according to the report.
Williams admitted to police that he threw a drink on the victim, but said she attacked him. Neither the victim nor Williams had any visible injury, according to the report.
After being taken to the jail, Williams was observed taking a small baggie out of his shorts containing about a .5 gram of suspected marijuana, which was then logged into evidence.
