The Columbus Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit took to Facebook Thursday morning to inform the community about an ongoing phone scam in the area.
According to the post, concerned residents have reported a phone scam in which the caller claims to be an attorney with a law office. The caller or callers use different names and claim to belong with different law offices.
"If you receive a call from someone claiming to be an attorney and you have not solicited their business, do not provide them with any personal information," the status reads.
The post goes on to give examples of personal information, such as name, date of birth, Social Security number, bank account details and credit card numbers.
