A week after his arrest in Opelika, Ala., a Phenix City man wanted in the kidnapping of a Columbus woman was booked Friday into the Muscogee County Jail, authorities said.
Ashton Antwann Fears, 24, is held without bond on a felony kidnapping charge for a 2 p.m. May 1 hearing in Columbus Recorder’s Court. Fears was taken into custody on April 18 by the Opelika Police Department and held in the Lee County Detention Center on an outstanding warrant from Columbus.
Fears is accused of pulling a woman from a vehicle and placing her in his vehicle against her will, police said in a report. The woman wasn’t injured in the incident.
The suspect was held in the detention center for a week until he was extradited to Columbus.
