A Muscogee County School District bus driver got a big surprise Wednesday when he went to work at Shaw High School.
The driver unlocked his school bus at the 7579 Raider Way school, stepped inside, and found an apparently homeless man sound asleep.
The driver startled the uninvited visitor by waking him up and ordering him to disembark.
About 10 minutes later, at 6:37 a.m., the bus driver saw Officer Brandon Moore driving by and flagged him down to report the incident.
Never miss a local story.
Moore reported the encounter to police dispatch, which informed him Officer Kyle Johnson was questioning a suspect not far away, on Schomburg Road at the J.R. Allen Parkway overpass.
The 60-year-old gray-haired, bearded transient denied having spent the night in a school bus, and the bus driver already had left, so Moore and Johnson were unable to confirm whether the suspect was in fact the same guy the driver confronted, Moore reported.
