Columbus Police are investigating a homicide on 23rd Avenue, Lt. Consuelo Askew said Sunday night.
Police received a call at 6:34 p.m. and found a man inside 225 23rd Ave. suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, Askew said.
Reno Fannin, 36, was pronounced dead at 6:59 p.m. in the emergency room at Midtown Medical Center, according to Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley.
Askew said police are investigating the shooting near the intersection of Cusseta and North Lumpkin roads as a homicide.

It's Columbus' fourth reported homicide this year and first since April 28, when Jumunn Morgan, 29, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a Rigdon Road apartment he shared with his girlfriend. No one has been arrested in that homicide.
Through six months last year, Columbus had 11 reported homicides. In 2013, 12 were reported.
