An Opelika man was jailed Monday in connection to the burglary of a U.S. Highway 147 North business, according to a release from the Auburn Police Department. Eddie J. Maddox, 28, was arrested Monday on felony warrants charging him with third-degree burglary and first-degree theft of property. Transported to the Lee County Jail, Maddox is eligible for an $8,000 bond, police said.
On May 30, police were notified about a business burglary in the 4700 block of U.S. Highway 147 North. Officials said multiple tools and a Honda motorcycle with a combined value of more than $13,000 were stolen from the establishment.
Further investigation into the incident led police to believe that Maddox, a former customer of the business, was the offender. They searched the suspect's vehicle and found the stolen items in his possession, the release reads.
