A 28-year-old Columbus woman was struck with a baseball bat at 5 p.m. Thursday on Dawson Street, according to a police report.
She transported herself to the Midtown Medical Center, where she was treated for a large laceration above her right eye and listed in good condition, Columbus police said.
A staff member with the hospital called police to the Midtown Medical Center around 6 p.m. Thursday in reference to the assault, but the victim told police that she did not need their assistance.
The woman went on to say she got into a verbal altercation with a man, and he struck her with a baseball bat. She said she did not want to press charges.
She added that she did not share a child with the man or live with him. Police then determined that it was not a family violence case.
The alleged attacker's name was not listed in the police report.
Police said they do not know of anyone who witnessed the incident.
A follow-up was not recommended.
