A homeless man was dancing along 13th Street Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a red SUV in a hit-and-run incident, according to a statement to police given by a witness.
The pedestrian was transported to the Midtown Medical Center, where he was treated for a fractured scapula and intubated, police said.
Authorities have yet to locate the unidentified driver or the red SUV.
The witness said he was walking southbound on Third Avenue, north of 13th Street, and noticed the homeless man dancing in the area. He then heard someone near the pedestrian scream, "Look out!"

He then saw an SUV headed eastbound on 13th Street strike the homeless man with the front of the vehicle. The posted speed limit in that area is 35 mph, but it's unclear how fast the car was traveling at the time.
The pedestrian fell on the shoulder of the road as the vehicle continued east on 13th Street and across Veterans Parkway. The witness aided the pedestrian until medics arrived on the scene, according to the report.
