A vacant house in the 3000 block of Ninth Street caught fire early this morning, but no one was harmed, Columbus Fire Marshal Ricky Shores said.
Columbus Fire & EMS officials were called to the fire at 2:50 a.m. this morning and later determined that the home was a total loss with $30,000 worth of damage. The cause of fire is still under investigation, but officials do not suspect foul play at this time, Shores said Monday morning.
"Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy fire issuing from the attic area of the home," he said. "The fire was mainly contained to the attic area of the home."
Shores said the house, which is around 1500 square feet, appeared to be under renovation.
