Police in Auburn, Ala., have charged two men in connection with a July 23 shooting that wounded a man in 1900 block of Overlook Court.
The suspects were identified as Deoggo S. Foster, 20, of Montgomery, and Carl Bennett Jr., 27, of Tallassee. Foster was located at a residence in Montgomery on Thursday and the U.S. Marshals Service found Bennett in a motel in High Point, N.C. Both are charged with one count each of assault second degree.
The arrests stem from an investigation into a report of shots fired on Overlook Court and two suspects. One of the suspects was identified as Foster after officers arrived on the scene and found a man, 21, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was treated at East Alabama Medical Center and later released.
In addition to Foster, Bennett was developed as a second suspect.
Auburn police said the victim and the suspects were engaged in a dispute that escalated into shots fired. Auburn police were assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the arrest of Foster. The U.S. Marshals also took part in the arrest of Bennett.
Foster is held in the Lee County Jail where bond was set at $25,000. Held in the county jail, Bennett is awaiting extradition from North Carolina.
