Half-clothed man fires shots at LaGrange Wal-Mart
A man said to be under the influence of drugs is accused of firing shots at the Wal-Mart in LaGrange Saturday morning, police said.
No one was injured in the 8:57 a.m. shooting, but Michael Fitzpatrick, 25, was transported to West Georgia Health for treatment. He was charged with one count of reckless conduct.
Police said he was under the influence of drugs and fired shots because he believed someone was chasing him, although no evidence was found.
Police were called to the 803 New Franklin Road store after a number of shots were fired. Officers on the scene found evidence that shots had been fired behind the store.
Police found surveillance video that indicated a man was partially clothed while firing shots in various directions.
The man was later picked up by a dark-colored sedan that had arrived at the store earlier. That vehicle was spotted by a Troup County Sheriff’s deputy on Glenda Drive, where a call was made for a person shot. The deputy didn’t find an injured man, but it was the same vehicle that was at Wal-Mart.
Anyone with information on the shooting should call the LaGrange Police Department or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
