Police: Man tries to steal beer truck, runs himself over
A 56-old Columbus man is in custody this morning after his attempt to steal a beer truck had a sober ending, according to Columbus police.
Just before 6 a.m. a beer truck was stopped at the Circle K at 1445 Veterans Parkway when the driver went inside.
When the driver returned, a man had gotten into the truck and was pulling way, according to Columbus Police Capt. Tony Danford. The driver of the truck made it to the Bojangles restaurant on Victory Drive before pulling over. As the driver exited the truck, he fell under it and the truck ran over his right leg, Danford said.
Gregory Miller, 56, was taken into custody. The extent of the injuries are unknown.
